Privacy policy for Irdora

Last updated: 11 October 2026

The short version. Irdora collects nothing about you. Your recordings, transcripts and summaries are made and kept on your iPhone, and Handful Apps runs no server for Irdora and never receives any of them. Irdora connects only to Apple: the App Store for purchases, Apple-hosted downloads for the speech model, and iCloud if you turn on sync. Each is described below.

What Irdora collects

Nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising identifier, no tracker and no third-party SDK that collects data. Handful Apps runs no server for Irdora, so I never receive your recordings, your transcripts, your summaries, or any record that you used the app. The App Store privacy label for Irdora is Data Not Collected, and it is accurate.

What Irdora stores on your iPhone

What you make with it: the audio of your recordings, their transcripts and speakers, the summaries, mind maps and action items written from them, the series you create, the speaker names you give, your own templates and your settings. All of it is kept in the app's own storage on your iPhone. Irdora never uploads a recording's audio. Deleting the app removes what Irdora stored on the iPhone. Copies made under iCloud sync or iCloud Backup are described below.

The microphone

Irdora uses the microphone only to record, and only when you start a recording. iOS asks your permission the first time. The audio is written to your iPhone's storage and is never uploaded.

Transcription, speakers and summaries

All 3 happen on your iPhone. Transcription uses Whisper speech models, and telling the speakers apart uses pyannote-based models. Both run through the open-source libraries WhisperKit and SpeakerKit, which run on the device and collect nothing. Summaries, mind maps and answers to your questions are written by the on-device model in Apple Intelligence.

Irdora does not use Apple's Private Cloud Compute and does not use any cloud AI service, so the work of turning a recording into a transcript and a summary never leaves your iPhone. The availability and behaviour of Apple Intelligence are governed by Apple.

Network access

Handful Apps runs no server for Irdora, so nothing you do in the app is sent to me. Irdora connects to the network only to reach Apple, in 3 places:

  • The App Store, through StoreKit, to show the price of Irdora Pro, to complete a purchase and to check whether it is active.
  • Apple-hosted Background Assets, to download the speech model the first time you use the app.
  • iCloud, only if you turn on iCloud sync. Sync is off until you do.

Those connections go to Apple, not to me. Everything else Irdora does happens on your iPhone.

iCloud sync

Sync is optional and is off until you turn it on in the app. When it is on, the titles, transcripts, summaries, series, speaker names and templates of your recordings go to your own private iCloud database, so they reach your other devices. A recording's audio is not sent: it stays on the device that recorded it. That database belongs to your iCloud account and is handled by Apple under Apple's terms. Handful Apps cannot read it.

Turning sync off stops Irdora sending. Data already in your iCloud stays there until you delete it, which you can do in the iPhone's Settings, under iCloud storage.

iCloud Backup

If your iPhone backs up to iCloud, Apple's backup can include Irdora's files, as it can for any app. That backup is made and held by Apple under Apple's terms. Irdora itself never uploads a recording.

Reminders and Calendar

Irdora uses these only when you add an action item. For Reminders, Irdora asks for access, adds the reminder, and afterwards reads only the reminders it added, so it can show which action items are already there. It reads nothing else from your lists. For Calendar, the event opens in the system's own editor. Irdora gets no calendar access and cannot read your calendar. The reminders and events live in your own Reminders and Calendar, and none of it is sent to me.

Notifications

Irdora's notifications are local: they are scheduled on your iPhone and are not sent from a server. Irdora uses them to tell you that a recording is ready, and that a free trial ends tomorrow. A notification names a length, such as how long a recording is, and never what was said.

Export and read aloud

PDF and RTF files are made on your iPhone and leave it only when you share them, to the app or person you choose. Read aloud uses the voices installed on your iPhone.

Purchases

Irdora Pro is required to use the app. It is sold as a lifetime one-time purchase, a yearly subscription with a 3-day free trial, or a weekly subscription. The app shows the prices, taken from the App Store.

Apple sells and processes the purchase. Handful Apps receives no payment details, and I never see your name or your Apple Account. What the app receives back from Apple is a signed record of whether Irdora Pro is active, and that is the only thing it uses to unlock the app.

Apple provides aggregate sales reporting, the same as for any App Store product. It counts purchases by country and period and does not identify individuals. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Children

Irdora is not directed at children under 13. It collects no data from anyone, so there is nothing to disclose under children's privacy rules.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a new use of data.
